The Inaugural Women in digital honorary recognition was held in April 2017 where 25 most influential women in digital were announced. The announcement happened online and generated a lot of interest and excitement from honorees and their fans.

This initiative recognizes women doing great work in digital who have directly or indirectly contributed to the growth and use of digital for personal and societal good. The women are innovators, entrepreneurs, corporate trendsetters doing big and small things to make the world a better place.

Catherine is a technology leader with more than 15 years of experience in varied industries including manufacturing, aviation and banking industry. She is the Managing director at Microsoft’s premier engineering hub that houses the engineering, design, research, and innovation teams, as well as the Microsoft Garage, an incubation hub established as part of the continent’s ongoing efforts to scale tech innovation. It also serves as the home of the Microsoft Africa Research Institute (MARI). Prior to joining Microsoft, she led the Engineering team at Stanbic Bank Kenya and South Sudan and was a member of the bank’s Executive Leadership team.

Hilda is the founder of Pezesha, a digital financial infrastructure enabling SMEs and institutions in Africa. She is an award-winning innovator and author with expansive experience in Fintech, developing innovations and entrepreneurship. she has worked with multinationals to develop mobility innovations for Africa and is credited for leading Pezesha to be the first company to exit from CMA regulatory sandbox and get approval. Pezesha works with more than 20 partner companies and has extend loans to over 100,000 businesses to date. Recently.

Maureen is currently the Head of Business at Wowzi where she leads cross cultural teams in Africa. She is instrumental in crafting Wowzi Africa expansion strategy, business growth and customer acquisition. She works with multinationals to create high impact digital campaigns and support teams that discover and nurture premium content creators in Africa. She previously worked at Dentsu International as Integrated Marketing Communications Director where she led different teams to develop client strategies, communications campaigns and change management.

At Bolt Kenya, Linda is tasked with the responsibility of optimizing business operations to facilitate growth, strategy development and execution of impactful program. She focuses on the provision of affordable and safe rides, sustainability of driver earnings, and preservation of the environment. She previously worked at Deloitte Consulting as Operations and strategy Manager where she engaged clients in the financial services, technology and telecommunications sector to develop their five-year strategies and operational roadmaps.

Maureen is a techpreneur and a community leader who has successfully designed impactful social enterprise strategies that have received seed capital funding. Nyayo Moms is a social commerce group that helps women buy and sell products within a like minded community. The group has built a vibrant marketplace that has morphed into a valuable business community from a simple Facebook group. Maureen is now transitioning the group into an Ecommerce platform that will support members with trade opportunities, digital skills development and other professional services.

Mariam has more than 20 years of experience in the Technology and mobile telecommunication industry having worked across a range of blue chip organisations in Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the US. At Google, she focuses on partnership development and management, connect Android-based products and serve users throughout the diverse continent of Africa. She previously worked at Microsoft where she held different positions including, General Manager for the East Africa operations following Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia Mobile Devices in 2013, Head Of Operator Channel, Sub Sahara Africa
